On Sunday, December 1, the HKUST Center for Business and Social Analytics (CBSA), in collaboration with the Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC) and Cyberport Hong Kong, successfully hosted a Web3 workshop at The Arcade, Cyberport.
The event attracted 60 enthusiastic university students from across Hong Kong, eager to explore the world of Web3, AI, and blockchain technology. The half-day workshop featured insightful sessions led by prominent industry experts, including:
Dr. Dong opened the workshop with an introduction to Web3, simplifying complex topics such as cryptocurrencies and smart contracts while addressing crucial security considerations that are especially pervasive in the cryptocurrency space. The discussions further explored key design thinking principles in the GenAI era, with Dr. Sin emphasizing the importance of value propositions and providing practical advice on validating problem statements.
This workshop is part of the 2025 Hong Kong Web3 Ideathon, which invites students to form teams and pitch innovative proposals that leverage Web3 technology to tackle significant challenges across three tracks: financial inclusion and empowerment, sustainable development, and community and social impact. The Ideathon is open to all local university students, and the deadline for proposal submission is January 10, 2025. For more details, please visit: https://web3ideathon.hkust.edu.hk.
A heartfelt thank you to our speakers and all participants for making this workshop a success. We look forward to the groundbreaking projects that will emerge from the Ideathon.
