ABSTRACT
In this talk, the speaker will introduce FinBERT, a state-of-the-art large language model that adapts to the finance domain. It has been shown that, when it comes to sentiment classification, FinBERT significantly outperforms the Loughran and McDonald dictionary as well as other machine learning algorithms, such as naive Bayes, support vector machine, random forest, convolutional neural networks, and long short-term memory. FinBERT incorporates finance knowledge and can better summarize contextual information in financial texts. The speaker will also discuss FinBERT’s performance in several tasks, including ESG topic classification.
